About This Project
The Problem: There are over 400,000 kids in the foster care system at any given time. In 2017, more than 17,000 young people aged out of foster care without permanent families. For those aging out of foster care, the statistics are grim – 1 in 5 kids will be homeless when they age out of foster care. In 2020, there were roughly 800 young adults in the NC LINKS program. Housing is an issue for many of these young adults. In addition to housing, many foster children will experience food insecurity and trauma. These young adults need support, love, and stability to reach their highest potential and realize their dreams.
The Solution: Provide a home where youth aging out of foster care in the NC LINKS program, who are interested in farming, can learn life skills while working on a farm. Teaming up with local resources, we will build skills, leadership, confidence, and work ethic. Program launching in late 2022.
